How to apply without getting lost
Most grants follow the same path. Know the 8 steps and the common mistakes and you’ve done half the work.
Find the right programme
Fill in the sentence on the home page. Check whether the programme is open, when it closes and whether applying early matters.
Pass the hard gates
Activity code (KAD), size, years trading, region, de minimis headroom, tax and social-security clearance. If one fails, stop here.
Gather the paperwork
TAXISnet login, E3 forms or accounts, clearance certificates, GEMI certificates, de minimis statement, supplier quotes, proof of your own contribution.
Build the plan
What you’ll buy, what it costs (with quotes), when, and what changes for the business. This is what gets scored.
Submit online
On the call’s platform (usually OPSKE) with TAXISnet. Don’t leave it to the last hour: the platforms slow down.
Evaluation and appeal
Answer clarification requests quickly. If you’re rejected you usually have 10 days to appeal.
Implementation
After the approval decision, buy what you declared, pay by bank transfer and keep every invoice.
Payment and obligations
File a payment claim, pass the check and get paid. Then keep the investment and jobs for as long as the call says, usually 3–5 years.
The most common mistakes
- Spending or paying a deposit before you apply.
- Your activity code isn’t on the list, or you got it too late.
- Forgetting that linked companies count towards the de minimis cap.
- Not having the cash to pay first and wait for the grant.
- Clearance certificates have expired on the day you submit.
- Submitting in the last hour while the platform freezes.
- Paying in cash or from a personal account.
What you almost always need
- TAXISnet login for the business or its legal representative.
- E3 forms or accounts for recent financial years.
- Valid tax and social-security clearance.
- GEMI certificates (for companies).
- A list of de minimis aid received in the last 3 years.
- Supplier quotes for everything you’ll buy.
- Proof of your own contribution (bank statement or loan approval).
How the ranking works
Every programme gets a score from 0 to 100. It is calculated in your browser from the profile you chose, with the same rules for everyone.
- Fit (up to 35): region, size, sector and stage. Programmes that don’t fit are hidden, but you can show them.
- Value (up to 25): how much you can receive and in what form. A grant counts more than a loan of the same size.
- Timing (up to 25): whether it’s open and whether you have time to prepare.
- Ease (up to 15): how simple the application is.
- Programmes for a very specific audience (for example only for unemployed people or only for research projects) sit a little lower, so you see what applies to most businesses first.
- We deduct up to 5 points when some details aren’t confirmed on an official source.
- Partner consultants never affect the ranking. Wherever they appear, they are labelled “Sponsored”.
