Grants to upgrade fishing vessels without increasing fishing capacity (PALYTH Action 1.1.2)

Fisheries, Aquaculture and Sea Programme (PALYTH) 2021-2027 · Priority 1 · EMFAF

Ειδική Υπηρεσία Διαχείρισης ΠΑΛΥΘ, Υπουργείο Αγροτικής Ανάπτυξης και Τροφίμων (PALYTH Managing Authority, Ministry of Rural Development and Food)

In plain words

Grants of 50–85% to upgrade a professional fishing vessel: safety and health equipment, hygiene, better working conditions, cold storage and catch quality. Small-scale coastal fishers get 80% and remote islands 85%. Final deadline: 30 October 2026.

Who can apply

Owners (individuals, companies or co-owners) of active professional fishing vessels with a valid professional fishing licence, listed in the national fleet register (inland-water vessels included). The vessel must have fished at least 60 days in the two previous calendar years.

What it pays for

Safety equipment (life-saving gear, EPIRBs, fire-fighting, communications), health (first aid, telemedicine), hygiene (toilets, galleys, water purification), working conditions (railings, shelters, anti-slip surfaces, insulation, protective clothing), hydrodynamics (stability, antifouling, rudder systems) and quality/added value (cold storage, small-scale processing, waste handling, one vehicle per vessel under conditions), plus technical costs up to 5%. Project budget €5,000–€500,000. Rates: 50% generally, 80% for small-scale coastal fishing (vessels under 12 m without towed gear) and inland waters, 85% on remote Greek islands. VAT, used equipment, wages and running costs are not covered.

Research notes: Call 119391/12.05.2026 (code 1.1.2/0/α). Original window 14.05–15.09.2026; extended to 16.10.2026 (2nd amendment, 14.09.2026, now revoked) and finally to 30.10.2026 15:00 (3rd amendment, 15.10.2026). Amount fields left empty: the call sets project-budget limits (€5,000–€500,000), not grant caps. Projects may be approved up to 110% of the €16m budget. We could not confirm from the available call text whether evaluation is comparative or in order of submission. The call contains both an uplift article and a table for island/small-scale rates that read slightly differently – check the exact rate for your vessel.
