Venture capital and private equity backed by HDB of Investments (HDBI)
HDBI – Hellenic Development Bank of Investments (fund-of-funds: InnovateNow, Q-equity, Greek Green Funds, Co-investment, 4IR, Made in Greece, etc.)
Ελληνική Αναπτυξιακή Τράπεζα Επενδύσεων – ΕΑΤΕ (Hellenic Development Bank of Investments – HDBI)
In plain words
HDBI does not fund companies directly: it puts public money into private venture-capital and private-equity funds, which buy stakes in start-ups and growing SMEs. To get funded you pitch to those fund managers. You give up part of your company; it is not a loan.
Who can apply
Innovative, export-minded start-ups and SMEs with a presence in Greece and potential for fast growth (depending on each fund's strategy: tech, green energy, manufacturing, restructuring, etc.).
What it pays for
Equity or quasi-equity (e.g. convertible) investments for growth, product, team and going international. Amounts depend on the fund and the company's stage.
