Cash Rebate Greece-Animate: 40% rebate for animation, interactive and AR/VR productions

In plain words

You get back 40% of what you spend in Greece on an animation, interactive or VR/AR production, up to €8m per project. It is for small and medium production companies. The money is paid in one go after the production is finished and checked.

Who can apply

Small and medium audiovisual production companies with a seat or branch in Greece (or that will operate here), registered in the Central Register of Beneficial Owners.

What it pays for

A 40% rebate on eligible production costs spent in Greece (capped at 80% of the total production cost). Minimum eligible spend in Greece: €80,000 for a feature, TV film or interactive/AR/VR work; €50,000 for a short film or an episode/series of up to 16 episodes.

What must be true for you

• Small or medium company with a seat or branch in Greece
• Apply before production work starts — otherwise the whole project is rejected (preparatory work excepted)
• Minimum spend in Greece of €50,000–€80,000 depending on the type of work
• Application fee of 0.05% of eligible costs (at least €200), refunded if the project is selected
• Total state aid up to 50% of the production cost (60% for cross-border, 100% for 'difficult' works)
• Finish within 3 years and by 31 Dec 2029 at the latest

How to apply

1. Read the call (Government Gazette B' 84/14.01.2026) on the action page
2. Prepare a file: company details, script or synopsis, key crew, timeline, full budget and financing plan, cultural criteria
3. Pay the application fee
4. Submit online in OPSKE (app.opske.gr) before production starts — the time you finalise counts
5. After approval, make the production and keep every invoice
6. Ask for certification of costs at the end to be paid in one lump sum

Deadline

Open until the budget for each region group runs out, first come, first served. Approvals must be issued by 31 Dec 2026, so do not leave your application to the last minute.
